This isn't a choice between homes and forest. The petition asks decision-makers to:

Renew the adjacent 1984 estate
Redeveloping the neighbouring 1984 housing estate could reduce the forest cleared from 15 hectares to roughly 6–8 — delivering homes while keeping most of the forest.

Protect a Maju–Clementi greenway
Maju connects toward Clementi Forest. Protecting them as a linked green corridor preserves far more ecological value than either patch alone.

Assess forest loss cumulatively
Judge the impact across all of Singapore's threatened forests together — not project by project, which hides the true scale of what's being lost.
The problem with the process
The EIA shows the harm — but nothing requires acting on it.
The Environmental Impact Assessment made the potential damage clear. Yet there is no law requiring the government to weigh that harm, and the monitoring plan isn't audited by an independent party once construction begins.
There are no human or climate studies for the site — no assessment of the forest's cooling, its carbon storage, or its value to physical and mental wellbeing. We're asking for those studies to be done before any development takes place.
